Growing in Faith

Everyone is most welcome to join our faith community of Holy Name & St Peter’s; we try not to exclude anyone. We do try to provide opportunities for people to take part, to talk, to share, to reflect and to pray together.

But first here are some more quotes from Pope Francis to guide us:

Before all else, the Gospel invites us to respond to the love of God who saves us, to see God in others and to go forth from ourselves to seek the good of others.”

“A Church which “goes forth” is a Church whose doors are open… we have to be like the father of the prodigal son, who always keeps his door open for when the son returns.”

First Sacraments

Usually, Baptism will take place on any Sunday.
If you wish to arrange a Baptism for your child, please contact Father to check that the date is available. You can contact Father John through our contact form here.

Children who attend our parish schools of St. Peter’s and St. Joseph’s prepare and celebrate First Holy Communion in their school setting.

If you would like your child to receive their First Holy Communion, and they attend a different school, it is possible to arrange for the preparation and celebration through the parish.

Please contact Father John via our contact form.

Confirmation

Confirmation is available to any young person in year 9 and upward of the secondary school. Please keep a lookout in our Parish blog to find when you need to put your name forward.

If you are interested in helping with the preparation course in any way please contact Father John through our contact form here.

Faith Sharing

A small group of about 10-15 parishioners meet every Thursday morning at 10am in Holy Name hall. The session is usually led by Hugh Lappin and many things are discussed. We might look at the readings for the following Sunday or we might discuss something else. It‘s a chance to talk informally and openly about any aspect of our faith. You are always very welcome to come along and see if you enjoy it.

Contact: Hugh can be contacted through the parish office.

Rosary Group

The Group was started nearly 25 years ago after a pilgrimage to Medjugorje by Father Gordon and St Peter’s parishioners. We meet every Wednesday night at 7.30pm in Noctorum. We pray the Rosary and offer it up for everyone’s intentions. Then we have tea and biscuits and general chat.

We number between 15 and 25 and are a mixed group of parishioners from Holy Name and St Peter’s. You would be made very welcome if you joined us. As Canon Gordon once said, it was the best thing he had ever started, and it is still going strong!
